Welcome to Room 1!

Welcome to another exciting school year! I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable summer vacation. This year you will notice a lot of academic growth in your child. A strong home-school connection will ensure such growth and success. This site will introduce you to a few of our classroom procedures and inform you of upcoming events. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask at any time. I look forward to working with you this year!

Classroom Rules

Our class rules are as follows:

  1. I will follow directions and listen carefully.
  2. I will raise my hand to speak or to leave my seat.
  3. I will keep my hands, feet, and objects to myself.
  4. I will be kind with my words and actions.

Discipline Policy

Students are to be on their best behavior at all times. Progress reports will be sent home every Friday to inform you of your child’s academic progress and behavior. Please sign the progress report and return it each Monday.

Students will document behavior on a daily basis. Each student will have a set of 4 colored cards. Students will be asked to “change their card” if they break a class rule.

          Green – Excellent

          Yellow – Warning

Orange – Needed a time out

Red – Unacceptable (note sent home)

Students will receive verbal praise, special privileges and prizes for appropriate behavior.

Homework Policy

Homework will be given daily and will be sent home in a designated folder. It is to be returned the following morning. Students who are absent have 1 day for each absence to make up missed homework assignments. Homework will not be graded, but will be recorded and credit will be given based on effort, completeness, and neatness. Those who do not complete or return their homework the following morning will not get credit for it. I also encourage every student to read every night for at least 15 minutes.
